FIRST, A LITTLE CLARITY
A pop-up isn’t always a virus.
A site may have permission to send notifications. A page may open extra windows. An extension may change how your browser behaves. Start by reviewing the settings you control.
YOUR GUIDED CLEANUP
Let’s turn down
the noise.
For Safari and Chrome on Mac. You make the changes; BrowseCalm shows you where.
Your choices stay in this page. This helper does not read your files, browsing history, or browser settings.
Clear expectations.
No scare tactics.
Does BrowseCalm scan for malware?
No. This version is an interactive guide, not antivirus software. It cannot detect malware, keyloggers, or stolen data, and completing the steps does not certify that your Mac is safe.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Keep this page open while you follow the steps in your browser settings. Wording can vary with your browser version.
What if the ads keep coming back?
Update macOS and your browser. If settings or extensions return after you change them, seek help from Apple Support or a trusted technician. If this is a work or school Mac, contact your administrator. Don’t disable security protections or delete unfamiliar system files.
What about a warning asking me to call or pay?
Don’t call a number, pay, download software, or enter a password because a webpage claims your Mac is infected. Close the suspicious tab. If needed, quit the browser with Command-Q; reopen without restoring the suspicious page.
